clear objective – and makes revising your resume less intimidating.
2) What Do You
Want To Achieve?
Three major
components are addressed in the best solution to this question:1) the
day-to-day activities you want to perform, 2) the level you want to reach, and
3) the organisation or setting that will allow you to accomplish your best job.
I’m a resume building and personal
branding strategist - and because I deal with a lot of career changers,
many of my clients don't have a specific job title in mind when we first meet.
In that instance, I'm hoping to gain a more comprehensive grasp of their career
and personal goals. Although having a precise job title will aid your marketing
efforts, if you're having trouble defining one, start by narrowing down those
three aspects to develop your ideal "job profile" as a means to drive
your search and concentrate your resume.
3) How Do You Wish To Be Positioned?
What main message do you want a hiring manager to take away
from your resume, and is that concept reinforced throughout the document? This
will be the overarching topic or thread that runs across your resume.
4) What Do You Consider To Be The Core Value You Bring To
Your Position?
A great resume effectively
communicates the outcome of your effort. This, however, isn't confined to sales
statistics and other indicators. How have you assisted the company in its
efforts to succeed, grow, scale, achieve profitability, diversify its
portfolio, achieve stability, streamline its processes, think bigger or
broader, create efficiency, develop a positive culture, pivot towards a new
direction, stay competitive, retain a client, attract top talent, and so on?
Anything that relates to your achievements and contributions should be
highlighted and will help to boost your resume.
5) What Are The Top Skills And Strengths You Bring To The
Table, In Your Opinion?
What else can you give in comparison to someone with equivalent
qualifications, aside from the required abilities to succeed in the role?
